Slammed doors, pink slips, unrequited love…No matter how you slice it, rejection never feels good. How many times have we agonized over seemingly missed opportunities? If only we’d held on to this truth: Rejection is God’s protection. Life is comprised of a series of events unfolding in real time. Our steps have already been ordered. God uses painful moments of rejection to draw us closer to Him and to steer us in the right direction. In order to be steered, we must possess an unwavering belief in the Sovereignty of God.
And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.
Romans 8:28
I know rejoicing in the face of rejection sounds crazy. However, the notion of faith presents many juxtapositions making it difficult to conceptualize with human intellect. Victory would be less sweet if we’ve never tasted the sour venom of defeat. There is a purpose for everything that happens in our lives from major life transitions to the very minute details. When we’re obedient and diligent to obeying the voice of the Lord, He will open up doors of opportunity that we never saw coming which NO man can shut. Likewise, if God has closed a door, it cannot be opened by any man.
Rejection can be a powerful compass in our lives for 3 reasons:
1. Rejection is an invitation to align our passions with God’s plan for our lives
2. Rejection gives us confidence in pursuing our truest calling
3. Rejection gives us resilience, endurance and perseverance
If you were to look back over your life, I’m sure you can think of at least one time when God delayed or denied something you thought was a blessing. In hindsight you are now able to see the denial was for your good. I encourage you to embrace rejection. Without it, we would never appreciate the perfect blessings God has in store for those who trust in Him. Faith Rocks when you understand Rejection is the vehicle to your Destiny!
Consider it nothing but joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you fall into various trials. Be assured that the testing of your faith [through experience] produces endurance [leading to spiritual maturity, and inner peace]. And let endurance have its perfect result and do a thorough work, so that you may be perfect and completely developed [in your faith], lacking in nothing.
James 1:2-4
