'I Felt Your Presence'

Today’s scriptures is: Matthew 10:14 (KJV)

And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet.

I love KJV however, I had to include the MSG version or as I like to call it, ‘the get right version’ and it reads...

If they don't welcome you, quietly withdraw. Don't make a scene. Shrug your shoulders and be on your way. (MSG)

In the text  Jesus was speaking to the disciples as he was sending them out 2by2 to heal and drive out impure spirits.  Sisters the disciples were told by Jesus himself to go into these towns and heal and drive out impure spirits.
JESUS SENT THEM, TO BLESS OTHERS.

Guess what? Sometimes the people who you were sent to bless will be the people who won’t welcome you.

I encourage you to think of a time in life where the person who sent you, motivated your posture, approach and confidence. Maybe it was your mother saying ‘please tell your teacher…’ Perhaps it was your boss saying ‘Let them know I sent you…’ or maybe you have said to someone ‘God told me to tell you…’.

In any of these scenarios we are motivated and validated by our sender to go with purpose.

But Jesus, as HE does throughout scripture, also warns them and tells them how to handle the rejection they will face.

’If they don’t welcome you...Don’t make a scene, shrug your shoulders
and be on your way.’ matthew 10:14

Sisters your presence is a gift. You are sent to be someone’s blessing. He tells us in matthew 5:13 why we are here.

If your blessing isn’t received in an initial meeting or perhaps there is a relationship that you believe no longer sees your value. DON’T MAKE A SCENE, just know when to leave.

The actions or receptiveness of someone else should not influence your purpose. Go! With a gentle heart and good intentions. If you walk in a room and the energy is stale, please don’t shift your energy to compete with theirs. Be a light. Only light can cast out darkness. Don’t dim your light, don't be overbearing, don't make a scene and don't overcompensate. Just seek HIS presence in that place.

Some years ago, at One Church International, Pastor Toure’ Roberts said if he is talking to someone and something feels uncomfortable in his spirit he says
‘God if you don’t show up in this place, in this conversation, I’m leaving.’

That word gave me the permission I needed. I take inventory of the presence I exude and I asses the energy/presence of others that I allow to exist in my space.

If you get anxious before meeting new people. Or if you dread going to certain events because that one person who ‘doesn't receive you’ will be there I employ you to pray the following prayer.

Father go before me to guide me, Behind me to push me, Above me to cover me, Beside me to encourage me and within me to fill me. I surrender to your will. I accept your plans for my life and I yield myself to be a wiling vessel. Let your light shine upon me. Teach me to discern your presence and let me find peace in the midst of whatever circumstance I face.  In your mighty name, Amen!
